Provincial Growth Fund investment to "kick-start" Kaipara

The Prime Minister was in Kaipara to announce a $20.39 million package which will strengthen Kaipara’s transport infrastructure and food and horticulture sector.

The investment package supports Kaipara District Council’s Kaipara Kickstart, an economic development plan focuses on key sectors for the district: Roads, Moana and Kai.

Projects to upgrade transport links in Kaipara (Roads and Moana) will receive $19.41 million from the Provincial Growth Fund. With $6.84 million from the National Land Transport Fund (NLTF), $1.0m from the Kaipara District Council and $10,000 from Te Roroa Iwi, the total investment in Kaipara transport infrastructure will be $27.26 million.

The Prime Minister noted that strengthening transport links is critical to fully unlocking the potential of the North and will support new opportunities for local people and businesses.

The Government will also invest $980,000 towards Kaipara Kai which is a project to explore new crop and stock types, and aquaculture opportunities for the region.
