Successful rangatahi employment programmes boosted by $2.7 million

Three successful Hawke’s Bay employment programmes are to receive an additional $2.7 million from the Government’s He Poutama Rangatahi (HPR) fund.

The programmes were originally approved for funding in 2018 for two years.  Due to their success and as part of the government’s economic recovery, these programmes have been extended and will continue to support the regions young people. 

The programmes to receive additional funding are:

  • The Workfit- Rangatahi NEET integration programme run by the Hikoi Koutou Charitable Trust which has already supported over 80 young people into employment or training, has received an additional $771,750.
  • The Youth Employment Connector programme managed by Hastings District Council will receive $985,000 to upscale its already successful initiative, and
  • The Hikina project run by Lift Social Enterprise will receive $950,000 to continue its work.
