A $4 million grant from the Regional Infrastructure Fund (RIF) will help fund the infrastructure needed to create up to 100 new affordable homes as part of a Kaikohe social housing project.

The RIF investment will fund essential infrastructure for the Bisset Road social housing project, such as roads, stormwater and wastewater, and infrastructure for carrying utilities like power and telecommunications.

The project is led by community housing provider Te Hau Ora o Ngāpuhi Limited with support from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.

Alongside meeting significant housing need, the development will support local jobs, apprenticeships, and supply chains, including the use of Northland sourced timber and contractors.

Infrastructure work is underway, with homes expected to be completed in 2027.
