Impact of the NIWE Primary Producer Finance Scheme
The North Island Weather Events (NIWE) Primary Producer Finance Scheme closed for applications on 1 March 2024.
To understand how the scheme is helping, we are running a yearly survey of recipients from 2024 to 2028. The first 2 surveys show that the scheme is meeting its early goals:
- helping primary sector businesses impacted by the weather events re-engage with commercial lenders
- contributing to the recovery of economic activity and job creation in impacted rural communities
- reducing environmental vulnerabilities in the primary sector.
We will update this page with results from future surveys as they become available.
